Tool Designer at SAAB Aeronautics
We believe that progress and opportunities are best created together. Welcome to a place where collaboration makes a difference.
Your Role
The section Industrialisation, Manufacturing Electrical and Harness assembly is part of the Fighter Production area within SAAB Aeronautics. The section is responsible for production and tooling documentation for wiring and electrical testing equipment.
We are now looking for a committed and driven tool designer who wants to help develop the efficient tooling solutions of the future. In this role, you will work closely with production, production engineering, and design to ensure high quality, efficient production, and economical solutions.
As a tool designer, you will be responsible for defining, improving, and developing electrical tools and production solutions. You will ensure that the tool design meets high demands for efficiency, economy, methodology, and manufacturability. By conducting thorough reviews of design and tool design, you contribute to creating robust and sustainable solutions.
In this role, you will drive the development of tooling solutions in both small and large projects and have technical responsibility, both internally and externally. You will evaluate various production solutions and collaborate with engineers, operators, and other departments to find the best methods and solutions.
Your Profile
To thrive in the role of tool designer, we believe you have previous experience in tool design as well as knowledge in electrical and wiring manufacturing, wiring testing, or similar areas. You have an interest in working with model-based tooling documentation and feel comfortable in a CAD environment.
As a person, you are driven, structured, and communicative. You have a curious mindset and appreciate working in teams where you contribute to a positive and developing work environment.
Furthermore, you have a good ability to lead and work effectively in cross-functional teams, where collaboration and problem-solving are in focus. You have a post-secondary education as an engineer, designer, or from a vocational school and are proficient in both Swedish and English, spoken and written.
It is an advantage if you have experience with model-based tooling documentation, have worked in CAD programs such as Catia V5, and have knowledge of 2D drawings. An understanding of wiring diagrams, electronics, and wiring testing is also a plus, as well as previous experience in wiring manufacturing. If you have an interest in methodology and regulations, as well as experience working as a team leader, technical leader, or in a similar leadership role, we also see this as a merit.
The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the applicable regulations for security protection. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in certain cases, entail requirements for specific citizenship.
What You Will Be Part Of

The area includes several functions and roles such as production engineering and tool design for a wide range of production capabilities within detail manufacturing, assembly, final assembly all the way to delivery of aircraft.
